Hallie Richmond se considera uma adolescente amaldiçoada, pois é a filha do presidente dos Estados Unidos. Para piorar a situação, é um ano de eleição e ela anseia sair com alguém. Em uma rápida escapadela em um shopping Elisabeth conhece Duncan Fletcher, marcando um encontro com ele sem revelar quem ela é. Ao chegar na "casa" dela para pegá-la ele acredita ter cometido algum engano mas, após ser revistado pela segurança e ter tido uma conversa com o presidente, é dado ao jovem casal uma listas dos lugares onde poderão ir. Esta decisão não os agrada nem um pouco, que conseguem ludibriar o serviço secreto para poder ir onde bem entenderem. Porém isto acaba gerando uma série de incidentes, que fazem o presidente Richmond abandonar seus compromissos políticos e colocar todo o serviço secreto atrás dos jovens fugitivos.
