Bonfim, um bancário bem sucedido, negro e bissexual, casado com uma mulher branca e de crença evangélica. Ele vive em uma Salvador contemporânea e recebe a incumbência de montar um terreiro de candomblé no espaço urbano. Para isto, enfrentará a especulação imobiliária numa cidade de crescimento vertiginoso, o preconceito racial e a intolerância religiosa. Este homem, embora questione a tradição da própria religião, tem a missão de montar um ambiente sagrado e de respeito à natureza, superando as contradições e conflitos trazidos pela modernidade.
