Diego é um diretor de cinema que ao saber que uma doença maligna pode ser fatal, casa-se com sua mulher de muitos anos, despede-se de seus amigos e entra numa rotina de longas jornadas num hospital. Lidando com a dor e conversando com a morte conhece um menino hindu, que se torna seu mais novo amigo. Um dia ele não aparece mais. Diego recebe alta, mas sua vida nunca mais será a mesma. Seu casamento acaba e, solitário, chega a se questionar se ele não estaria morrendo e ninguém lhe diz nada, até que conhece uma nova mulher...
