A carreira de Chiaki como maestro está em ascenção. Ele é convidado para se tornar o maestro permanente da Orquestra Roux-Marlet. Entretanto, a orquestra está péssima: falta de verba, membros desinteressados e ruins, falta de público e um primeiro-violino que acha que é ele quem dá as ordens. Em um prazo apertado, o nosso jovem perfeccionista terá que fazer mudanças profundas se quiser trazer a orquestra em sua antiga glória. Enquanto isso, Nodame se esforça para melhorar cada vez mais no piano em busca de seu sonho de se apresentar junto de Chiaki.
