A história de duas pessoas que vivem realidades distintas: Bandai Tanaka, advogado descontente com sua vida, e Kyoko Mizoguchi, jovem recepcionista de uma imobiliária que sofre constantes acessos de raiva. O marido de Kyoko planeja abrir um restaurante, enquanto a esposa de Bandai trabalha em um cartório no centro da cidade. Porém, tanto Bandai quanto Kyoko parecem bem infelizes em seus casamentos. Em circunstâncias inusitadas, ambos se conhecem, se apaixonam e, ao tornarem-se amantes, passam a se reunir em um apartamento, onde executam diversas tentativas de dar um fim às suas vidas.
