Christopher Pride (Jerry Lewis) é um pintor que foi recentemente premiado e vai viajar para Paris. Planejando matar dois coelhos com uma só cajadada, ele planeja ir com Elizabeth Acord (Janet Leigh), sua noiva, uma psicanalista, pois se casarão no navio e terão sua lua-de-mel em Paris. Mas ela se recusa a partir, pois tem três jovens pacientes que tiveram desilusões com os homens e passaram a ter problemas de relacionamento com o sexo oposto, se tornando dependentes da sua terapeuta. Assim o artista se faz passar por homens que preenchem os requisitos das moças, pois quando sua noiva as ver recuperadas viajará. Mas nem tudo sai como o planejado.
