O céu está vazio, o inferno está cheio. Cada alma é disputada com unhas e dentes pelos dois espectros. Quando parece que uma contusão no cérebro vai encerrar a vida do boxeador mexicano Manny (Demián Bichir), duas agentes sobrenaturais são enviadas para tentar conquistar sua alma: uma é um anjo de um céu que se parece exatamente com o melhor de Paris e onde todos falam francês. A outra é uma garçonete do inferno, enviada para seduzi-lo a passar o resto da eternidade numa prisão pintada de vermelho, onde todos falam inglês.
