O ano de 1935 estava chegando ao fim quando três levantes militares, em três diferentes capitais brasileiras, tentaram derrubar o governo de Getúlio Vargas. O governo de Getúlio foi implacável com os insurretos. Vários deles foram brutalmente torturados. Em poucos dias o movimento foi inteiramente dominado e esse foi um dos primeiros passos para a escalada autoritária de Getúlio Vargas que se manteria no poder até 1945. 35 - O Assalto ao Poder, documenta todos os lances da insurreição comunista e todas as etapas de um complexo processo que teve como protagonistas, além de Getúlio Vargas, Luiz Carlos Prestes, Octávio Brandão, Olga Benário, Gregório Bezerra, Giocondo Dias entre outros anti-heróis da utopia comunista na América Latina.
