O filme conta a trajetória pessoal de Lula, o seu nascimento em 1945, quando no sertão pernambucano, Dona Lindu, uma mulher simples e de fortes valores morais, dá à luz o seu sétimo filho, Luiz Inácio da Silva, e enfrenta o abandono do marido e as dificuldades de criar seus filhos sozinha na cidade grande. Em 1980, Lula se torna o maior líder sindical do país e emerge como uma força política renovadora. Uma vida marcada por dificuldades, perdas e uma notável capacidade de superação.
