Barítono famoso e cinqüentão, Cornélio (Paulo Fortes) casa-se com Angélica (Alcione Mazzeo), 29 anos mais jovem. Ela planeja, com o ex-namorado Bruno (Stan Cooper), matar o marido para que possam se casar posteriormente. Na lua-de-mel, em Cabo Frio, Angélica prepara uma enorme quantidade de ostras para que Cornélio contraia tifo. Porém o plano dá errado, com ela ficando doente. Hospitalizada, ela exige a presença de Bruno e o apresenta como seu primo. Os dois homens ficam amigos, embora Bruno continue tentando eliminar Cornélio.
