Zeferino, gerente de um banco, posa de marido exemplar para o sogro e a esposa, sendo debochado pelo cunhado que anda às voltas com companhias teatrais. Uma noite, fica preso no interior do cofre do banco junto com duas secretárias que acompanham tradicionais 'festinhas'. Graças a um providencial assalto, Zeferino é libertado sob chantagem dos bandidos. Numa festa grãfina, dada pelo sogro, as mentiras do gerente são reveladas, mas a esposa consegue perdoá-lo.
