A quase 50 anos Simon (Kad Merad) é um violinista, mas está na parte final da sua carreira e também da sua vida. Ele acaba indo para uma aula de orquestra em numa faculdade parisiense, liderada pelo benevolente Sr. Farid (Samir Guesmi), cujos rígidos métodos de ensino não facilitam a relação com os alunos. Entre eles, Arnold, uma criança tímida, mas apaixonado e muito bom no violino. Em contato com Arnold, Simon revive a alegria que sente pela música, Mas não será um caminho fácil ser capaz de fazer esses jovens tocarem na filarmônica.
