Durante uma tempestade na Grand Line, Luffy e seus companheiros exploram um navio que estava afundando e nele encontram um grande baú de tesouro. Estavam ansiosos para abrirem o baú, porém o que estava lá dentro não era um tesouro e sim uma mulher velha com dentes de ouro. Ela se escondeu no baú enquanto o navio afundava com a intenção de se proteger. Então ela propôs ao Bando do Chapéu de Palha que se eles a salvarem, como agradecimento ela os levaria até o lendário tesouro de sua ilha, A Coroa de Ouro! Então como já era de se esperar Luffy e seu bando partem para a tal ilha.
