A família Thompson acaba de se mudar para uma nova cidade e tenta se adaptar. A mãe, Susan (Teri Polo), está fugindo de alguém e carrega junto seus filhos, o adolescente Dane (Chris Massoglia) e o pequeno Lucas (Nathan Gamble). Na nova casa, os garotos descobrem um buraco sem fundo, e o mal parece ser libertado. Todos começam a ter visões estranhas e coisas esquisitas passam a acontecer com eles e com a vizinha Julie (Haley Bennett), adolescente como Dane. De espírito aventureiro, os três vão aprender a lidar com seus medos.
