O jornalista Eduardo (Mário Sérgio), que sonha em ser cronista policial, é incumbido de recepcionar e entrevistar no aeroporto a famosa atriz americana June Lindsay. Eduardo, porém, não sabe quem ela é e acredita na jovem também chamada June (Tônia Carrero), que pede para sair sorrateiramente do local. Depois de entregar a entrevista com a suposta atriz ao jornal, descobre que ela não é quem diz ser e é demitido. Enquanto Eduardo tenta desvendar quem June realmente é, e que a cada episódio relatado e desmentido ela continua a criar histórias absurdas sobre sua identidade, uma série de personagens interferem no desenrolar da relação dos dois.
