Bahar é a comandante das Filhas do Sol, um batalhão composto apenas por mulheres curdas que atua ofensivamente na guerra do país. Ela e as suas soldadas estão prestes a entrar na cidade de Gordyene, local onde Bahar foi capturada uma vez no passado. Mathilde é uma jornalista francesa que está acompanhando o batalhão durante o ataque. O encontro entre as duas mulheres, dentro do cenário caótico que as cercam, irá mudar a vida de ambas permanentemente.
