Desafiando as convenções sociais, dois rapazes e duas moças se isolam deliberadamente numa praia e procuram dar vazão à sua ânsia de viver. Nessa experiência incomum, todos ignoram seus nomes e se chamam por números (Um, Dois, Três, Quatro), passando a agir sem nenhum dos freios impostos pela civilização. Os momentos vividos na praia - cheios de violência e sensualidade - aprofundam os laços entre os quatro jovens, revelando ao mesmo tempo a personalidade mais secreta de cada um. Regressando à cidade, eles se separam e retomam sua vida normal. A descoberta do amor, o iconformismo e a audácia agora vão se chocar contra a realidade cotidiana, e tudo sofrerá uma reviravolta.
