Na mesma época, ela foi convocada pelo Comitê de Segurança Russo (KGB) para atuar como espiã do Governo de Stalin no Reino Unido. Depois de mais de cinquenta anos de serviço muito bem sucedidos, ela foi descoberta e presa pela Serviço de Inteligência Britânico (MI5).
