Dezessete anos se passaram desde que uma guerra nuclear tornou a raça humana uma espécie em extinção. As cidades tornaram-se infernos, povoadas de gangs de criminosos, canibais e seitas bizarras. A fome está por toda parte e os sobreviventes são observados o tempo todo por uma inteligência computadorizada. O controle militar acontece através de cyborgs, máquinas sem sentimentos com características humanas, que têm permissão para matar. Mary é uma bela mulher, com uma característica singular: é a única fonte de fertilidade e a única salvação do planeta. Agora ela terá que enfrentar a perseguição implacável de um cyborg, que fará tudo para impedir que ela salve o futuro do planeta.
