Adrian Geiger (Michael Massee) possui poderes mentais fora do normal. Quando ele resolve utilizá-los para assaltar um carro-forte, a agente do FBI, Jordan Ripps (Teri Hatcher, a conhecida Lois Lane do seriado de TV “As Novas Aventuras de Superman”), inicia uma investigação para capturá-lo. No entanto, o único homem que conhece este poder é o agente Raymond Addison (Louis Gossett Jr.), que irá buscar num simples professor de educação física o mesmo poder mental para ajudá-los. Assim, a agente Jordan terá de usar toda a sua inteligência para capturar Geiger, enquanto a caçada se torna cada vez acirrada.
