"Um enorme diamante - 'Rainha do Sul' - é roubado em pleno sertão. Uma firma seguradora de Londres apela para Jerônimo. A fim de recuperar a pedra, Jerônimo, Aninha e Saci têm que enfrentar uma estranha família: a viúva Tabarra, velha senhora, é na verdade chefe de uma quadrilha composta por seus filhos que, por ironia, ostentam nomes bíblicos: Eliezer, Ebenezer, Ezequiel e Esaú. Apenas a filha, Jezebel, que se apaixona por Jerônimo, revela bom caráter e o ajuda.
