O comediante clássico Western, Capitão Oren Hayes, do Texas Rangers, faz uma pausa para visitar sua filha em uma cidade vizinha. Quando ele chega, encontra o marido de Hannah, sua filha, que está concorrendo a prefeito contra um chefe corrupto da cidade, Nard Lundy. Lundy não tem intenção de permitir a eleição livre do honesto Jeff Rose, por isso seus espancadores os espancam. Hayes então pede a ajuda de alguns de seus antigos amigos dos Rangers. Ao chegar na cidade, eles percebem rapidamente que a idade os alcançou e devem confiar em sua inteligência para ser espertos e derrotar Lundy.
