Helena Meirelles faleceu em 2005, doze anos depois de ter sido descoberta pela revista norte-americana Guitar Player, que a colocou entre os 100 melhores guitarristas do mundo, ao lado de músicos como Roger Waters e Eric Clapton. Dona Helena nasceu no sertão do Brasil e desde criança era apaixonada pela viola. Passou a sua juventude entre comitivas de boiadeiros e prostíbulos, lutando pelo direito de tocar. Analfabeta, virou estrela no Brasil. Sua história e sua arte são mostradas neste documentário obrigatório para os amantes da música.
