As meninas da Academia Achiga de Nara derrotaram a Escola de Ensino Médio Bansei durante o regional de mahjong. A escola avançou para as semifinais nacional, mas infelizmente perdeu a final do campeonato e o clube foi dissolvido. Depois de seis anos, a estudante da escola elementar Shizune Takakamo fará amizade com a recém-chegada Nodoka Haramura. As duas garotas entrarão na Achiga, mas Nodoka mudará de escola durante o segundo ano. Desde então, tem se passado um ano, e um dia Shizuno vê na televisão Nodoka vencer o campeonato nacional de mahjong para as escolas individuais. Foi aí que Shizune decidiu reviver o clube de mahjong da Academia Achiga.
