Designado para bombardear uma ferrovia alemã, o Tenente aviador Terrence Forbes (Errol Flynn) realiza sua missão, mas retorna em uma velocidade muito baixa e o bombardeiro da RAF é abatido perto da antiga fronteira polonesa. Juntamente com sua equipe, composta do oficial Johnny Hammond (Ronald Reagan), do Sgt. Kirk Edwards (Alan Hale), oficial Jed Forrest (Arthur Kennedy) e do Sgt. Lloyd Hollis (Ronald Sinclair), que se acha ferido, Forbes é capturado pela Gestapo. Interrogado pelo Mj. Otto Baumeister (Raymond Massey), Forbes consegue nocauteá-lo, e junto a seu grupo, começa uma fuga desesperada para saírem vivos da Alemanha. Agora, eles terão de correr contra o relógio para escapar do Major, que busca vingança.
