Em Hong Kong, a força especial da polícia conhecida como 2002 é composta pelo policial Chiu e seu parceiro fantasma, de vinte e dois anos, e eles lutam contra fenômenos sobrenaturais sob a orientação do místico Paper Chan. Quando seu parceiro reencarna, o policial novato Fung se candidata ao cargo; mas Paper Chan explica a Chiu que a equipe deve ser formada por um homem e um espírito, e Chiu tem uma estrela da morte em sua mão que faz seus amigos morrerem. Enquanto isso, Chiu se apaixona pela enfermeira Danielle, mas ele evita que ela proteja sua vida contra o destino da estrela da morte. Quando o demônio Água Fantasma possui Fung buscando vingança contra Chiu, ele tem que lutar contra o espírito maligno tentando proteger também seu amigo.
