Maggie (Angela Sarafyan) é uma adolescente que está fugindo de sua família; David (Jesse Garcia) é um adolescente imigrante ilegal procurando pela sua. Quando seus destinos se cruzam, os dois estão sozinhos na Cidade dos Anjos, um lugar onde alguns vão para sonhar e outros para se esconder. Logos os dois fazem uma aliança improvável com Esther (Bai Ling), uma stripper chinesa, e Susan (Debi Mazar), uma bibliotecária. Mas quando Maggie busca a ajuda de sua mãe (Dana Delany) a verdade vem à tona e ela precisará decidir entre encarar o seu passado ou continuar a fugir.
