O Imperador Yung Ching envia seu exercito com a missão de atacar e destruir o Templo de Shaolin. O exercito incendeia o Templo e mata a maioria de seus monges. Fong Sai Yuk, um dos sobreviventes, consegue fugir acompanhado de seu Mestre. O exercito Manchu continua sua perseguição e acaba conseguindo prender Fong Sai Yuk. Fong é levado para o terrível Templo do Lótus Vermelho, uma prisão secreta onde os monges aprisionados são forçados a trabalhar como escravos. Lá, Fong terá que enfrentar um Monge renegado e impiedoso e irá descobrir que o Templo na verdade é um perigoso labirinto cheio de armadilhas mortais de onde aqueles que tentaram fugir somente encontraram sofrimento e morte.
