Seu objetivo é ajudar os fracos e indefesos, mas ao salvar um rato o torna o mais procurado em todo o país. Fugindo de ratos incessantes e estúpidos, Perro faz amizade com um jovem moleiro, Pierre; juntos, eles decidem buscar fama e fortuna. Quando eles se cruzam com a adorável Princesa Rosa, Perro determina que Pierre seja amarrado a Sua Alteza Real. Nagagutsu o Haita Neko é uma animação tradicional de 1969. Foi o 15º filme produzido pela Toei Animation (Toei Doga até então) e o segundo a ser dirigido por Kimio Yabuki. O roteiro e as letras, escritas por Hisashi Yamamoto e Inoe Morihisa, são baseados no conto de fadas literário francês de mesmo nome por Charles Perrault, expandido com elementos de Alexandre Dumas e com muitos animais antropomórficos (kemono em japonês). O filme é particularmente notável por dar a Toei Animation seu mascote e logotipo.
