Após o incidente com a Heath Oslo, a existência da organização anti-terrorista CIRS, dos EUA e do Japão, tornou-se uma questão de conhecimento público. O CIRS foi reconstruído a partir do zero e suas funções mais secretas se transformaram em uma nova agência: a SORD (Social Ops, Research & Development). O objetivo da SORD é treinar uma nova geração de agentes para defender o país contra futuras ameaças. Para esse fim, a organização estabeleceu uma série de escolas em todo o país. A Academia Mihama, mais ou menos deixada para apodrecer após o seu abrupto fechamento, recebeu um novo propósito como uma dessas "escolas especializadas em treinamento". Esta nova encarnação da Academia Mihama é o lar de um grupo diversificado de estudantes, que todos os dias trabalham para aperfeiçoar suas habilidades incomuns - às vezes no trabalho.
