Sofia é uma jovem mãe solteira que divide o seu tempo entre dois empregos que a ajudam a si e aos seus dois filhos a sobreviver. De tarde num supermercado: Á Noite num Bar de Alterne frequentado por figuras chave do universo corrupto do País: Dirigentes de futebol, membros do executivo, até mesmo policiais e juízes. Numa noite Sofia recebe uma proposta de um delegado da policia judiciaria, Luís, que reconhece nela uma certa classe, charme e inteligência que a destacam de todas as outras mulheres que habitualmente se encontram nesses locais.
