Um dos mais importantes acontecimentos da história do Brasil, a Revolta dos Búzios, de 1798, foi protagonizada por dezenas de homens negros que se levantaram para derrubar o governo colonial, proclamar a independência e implantar uma República democrática, livre da escravidão. A ousadia desses homens conclama o povo a fazer a Revolução e a conspiração se espalha pela Cidade da Bahia. A tomada do poder está perto. Mas o movimento é denunciado, o governo instala uma Devassa contra centenas de pessoas e quatro delas são enforcadas e esquartejadas.
