O cowboy Ross McEwen chega à cidade e pede ao banqueiro um empréstimo de US$ 2.000. Quando o banqueiro pergunta sobre como garantir um empréstimo tão grande, McEwen lhe mostra sua garantia de seis armas. O banqueiro entrega o dinheiro em troca de uma nota promissória assinada por "Jefferson Davis". McEwen sai da cidade e pega um trem, mas não antes de ser mordido por uma cascavel. No trem, uma enfermeira, Srta. Hollister, cuida de seu ferimento. Um grupo de policiais revista o trem, mas McEwen consegue passar despercebido. No entanto, um mexicano misterioso notou a presença do caubói, e aquele pirralho tagarela continua bisbilhotando. Quem será o primeiro a reivindicar a recompensa pela captura do ladrão?
