O negócio da família Duke é bebida ilegal, que é fabricada pelo tio Jesse (Willie Nelson). Luke (Johnny Knoxville) e Bo (Seann William Scott), que são primos, são também os responsáveis pela entrega das bebidas, que é feita através de um Dodge Changer laranja apelidado de "General Lee". Luke e Bo volta e meia enfrentam problemas com a polícia, o que faz com que tenham que andar sempre em alta velocidade. A dupla também periodicamente se mete em confusão no Boar's Nest, onde sua prima Daisy (Jessica Simpson) trabalha como garçonete. Após descobrirem que as terras de seus vizinhos estão sendo tomadas irregularmente pelo chefe Hogg (Burt Reynolds), Luke e Bo decidem preparar um plano para salvar o local em que moram.
