O carioca Celso, estudante de economia, chega a Blumenau onde encontra Jorge, o amigo que o considerava para passar as férias na cidade. No dia seguinte, porém, Jorge viaja para a Argentina e Celso fica só. Conhece a jornalista carioca, Isa, e a professôra local, Helga. Estabelece um caso amoroso com Isa e um namôro com Helga simultâneamente. Um desentendimento com a professora faz com que Celso acompanhe a jornalista numa viagem ao Rio Grande do Sul. Insatisfeito, Celso retorna a Blumenau e reenceta seu romance com Helga.
