Falcino, uma pequena cidade no sul da Itália. Ninguém vê. Ninguém ouve. Ninguém fala. Mas todo mundo sabe. E assim todos eles se tornam cúmplices de uma tragédia contra as mulheres, contra as crianças, contra uma família. Uma história de violência e escravidão. A indiferença é mais forte do que sua consciência. Maria, uma jovem mãe de família, vive com o marido Gerardo e os dois filhos Rocco e Carmela, na quinta do sogro: o "vovô" Giuseppe. Gerardo decide emigrar para a Áustria para ganhar mais dinheiro e permitir uma vida mais confortável para a família. Essa ausência será o início de um pesadelo que levará Maria e sua filha a serem vítimas de abuso de um ogro (monstro) inescrupuloso.
