Em março de 2006, a equipe do projeto Navegar Amazônia saiu do Canal de Jandiá, em Macapá, rumo a Belém. A bordo de um barco regional, adaptado com um moderno laboratório multimídia, estavam a equipe do projeto e trinta pessoas. Entre os convidados, os músicos Jorge Mautner, Nelson Jacobina e Zé Miguel (de Macapá) e os cineastas Evaldo Mocarzel e Jorge Bodanzky. O objetivo era oferecer, ao longo de todo o percurso, que envolveu as cidades de Belém, Abaetetuba e Tauerá-açu, oficinas de música, cinema, fotografia, vídeo e arte às populações ribeirinhas visitadas.
