Carmem é uma jovem e talentosa médica que mora sozinha em São Paulo. Seu melhor amigo é Murilo, um homossexual que a conhece desde pequena. Um dia, ele conhece Juan, um músico argentino por quem se apaixona e que passa a morar com Murilo depois de ser expulso de casa pela namorada. Entretanto, Juan é heterossexual e passa a se interessar por Carmem, que retribui o interesse, mas teme a reação de Murilo. Mas uma situação inesperada muda os rumos do triângulo amoroso e da vida de Carmem.
