No final da década de 60 era difícil não encontrar Suzette (Goldie Hawn) e Lavinia (Susan Sarandon) junto aos grandes astros do rock'n'roll da época. Apelidadas de "Banger Sisters", elas viveram intensamente este período e tem fotos para provar isto. Porém, mais de 20 depois, a vida de ambas mudou bastante. Lavinia agora é uma pacata dona-de-casa, que serve de exemplo na comunidade onde mora. Já Suzette manteve-se fiel à sua juventude. O tempo afastou ambas, até que Suzette, em dificuldades, resolve recorrer à amiga em busca de apoio.
