Sailor Joel Shore (Robert Taylor) vai à procura de seu irmão caçador de baleias, Mark (Stewart Granger), que está perdido durante uma missão desastrosa no mar. Joel e sua esposa Priscilla (Ann Blyth), acabam encontrando Mark em uma ilha tropical, mas, para sua surpresa, o infortúnio e a tragédia o transformaram em um homem perturbado e desesperado.
