O Grupo de Bagé foi um movimento artístico surgido no Rio Grande do Sul dos anos 40, protagonizado pelos pintores e gravadores Glênio Bianchetti, Glauco Rodrigues, Carlos Scliar e Danúbio Gonçalves. Ligados ao Taller de Gráfica Popular do México e ao Partido Comunista, fizeram da gravura uma maneira de popularizar a arte, com temáticas realistas e de denúncia social. O documentário revela a apropriação destes artistas pelo sistema das artes brasileiras, do pampa gaúcho aos palácios de Brasília.
