Na cidade de Berlin nos anos 70, Christiane, uma linda adolescente, mora com sua mãe e sua irmã menor em um típico apartamento da cidade. Ela é fascinada para conhecer a "Sound", uma nova e moderna discoteca. Apesar de menor de idade ela pede a sua amiga para leva-la lá ela conhece Detlev, assim ela se aproxima do terrível mundo das drogas. Primeiro é o álcool, depois a maconha, assim passo a passo ela começa a mergulhar cada vez mais profundamente no submundo do vício e da prostituição colocando-se à beira da morte.
