Após dez mil anos de reinado, e já perto de aposentar-se, o Demônio decide no cargo. Revoltados, seus filhos Adrian e Cassius resolvem criar um inferno particular, e elegem Nova York para começar. Porém, a saída de Adrian e Cassius sela o portal do inferno, fazendo com que o Demônio vá perdendo seus poderes. A solução é pedir ao filho caçula, o atrapalhado Nicky, que falante, Nicky começa a experimentar sensações humanas e acaba se apaixonado por Valerie. Enquanto isso, a Terra fica cada vez mais perto de tornar-se um verdadeiro Inferno.
