O diamante “Pantera Cor de Rosa” é mais uma vez roubado de Lugash e as autoridades chamam o inspetor chefe Clouseau (Peter Sellers), que tem que vir da França. Só que seu avião desaparece na rota aérea. Dessa vez, a repórter da TV Marie Jouvet (Joanna Lumley) resolve que será ela quem vai solucionar o mistério e começa a fazer diversas entrevistas com pessoas conectadas a Clouseau. Durante o processo, ela também é sequestrada por um mafioso que não quer que Marie encontre o detetive, só que ela consegue escapar e continua sua busca por pistas.
