Gabriel passa a receber chamadas telefônicas de Pete (Rory Culkin), um adolescente precoce e problemático que afirma ser seu fã número um. Desanimado com a vida e a carreira, Gabriel desenvolve um fascínio crescente por seu fã. Os relatos do rapaz passam a capturar cada vez mais sua imaginação, até que sua vida, até então ordenada, transforma-se numa jornada em busca da verdade sobre Pete.
