Roberto Leal vive com seus pais e irmãos em São Paulo, em meio a grandes dificuldades financeiras, dividindo o tempo entre o trabalho na feira para ajudar a família e o sonho de se tornar um cantor de sucesso. Quando seu pai fica cego, Roberto começa suas tentativas de gravar um disco para tentar juntar dinheiro a fim de levar o pai de volta à sua aldeia natal em Portugal, local do Santuário de Santo Ambrósio, que o homem acredita poder devolver-lhe a visão.
