No século 17, cinco famílias com poderes sobrenaturais fazem um pacto de silêncio. Eventualmente, uma família querendo todo o poder é banida. Os descendentes daquelas quatro famílias são herdeiros de um tremendo poder. Conhecido como os Filhos de Ipswich, os meninos atendem à academia de elite Spencer. Quando um aluno é encontrado morto após uma festa, segredos ameaçam quebrar o pacto que tem protegido as famílias dos meninos ao longo dos séculos.
