A história começa por volta de 1912, quando Ueshiba é o líder de uma aldeia agrícola, mas não se interressa por agricultura , em vez disso procura criar um estilo de arte marcial imbatível, ja que tinha conhecimento de artes marciais clássicas passadas pelo seu pai. Sonny Chiba, anuncia seu estilo de karatê, e então derrota Ueshiba, usando movimentos que lembram seu personagem Terry Tsurugi em o lutador de rua. Depois dessa surra, Ueshiba começa uma busca para testar suas habilidades contra outros lutadores, ate encontrar um Samurai perito em Aikijujutsu que lhe ensina como começar a ser um verdadeiro artista marcial. Muita coisa rola ate Ueshiba criar o seu Aikido, conflitos contra karatecas e outros artistas marciais japoneses.
