Em 4 de fevereiro de 2010, o público no Fitzgerald Theatre em St. Paul assistiu a uma edição especial de quinta-feira à noite de A Prairie Home Companion. O mesmo aconteceu com inúmeros fãs nos cinemas dos Estados Unidos e Canadá. Eles estavam assistindo a primeira versão cinematográfica de todos os tempos - o programa foi transmitido ao vivo por satélite para as telas de cinema. Os convidados incluíam o lendário cantor e compositor inglês Elvis Costello, as potências vocais Jearlyn e Jevetta Steele, a cantora Heather Massey e Robin e Linda Williams. Também no programa, a Academia Real de Atores de Rádio: Sue Scott, Tim Russell e Erica Rhodes. Tom Keith e Fred Newman estavam à disposição para criar um caos de efeitos sonoros. Tudo isso, além da famosa Guy’s All-Star Shoe Band (com uma seção especial de Sopros que foi trazida de Nova York), episódios de "Guy Noir" e "Lives of the Cowboys", uma pausa para biscoito de leite em pó e, é claro, o "Notícias do Lago Wobegon".
